Sister Interviews: Why we chose Delta Phi Lambda
Question: How did Delta Phi Lambda change your life? Which one of the 7 virtues means the most to you and why?
" DPhiL changed my life in that it has made me a strong, independent, and dedicated female leader. I've made meaningful relationships and memories that I know will always be with me. I've learned so much in my time as a sister.
I can't pick just one of our Virtues. Each of them has a profound importance on my heart and identity as a sister of Delta Phi Lambda. Loyalty, Honesty, Respect, Dedication, Integrity, Discipline, and Academic Excellence all weigh equally in my heart. "

" Being part of DPhiL and part of the everlasting sisterhood definitely changed my life. I remember when I first came in to the university, I had no idea what is a sorority is and I was afraid to join anything that I don't know about. After I found out about Delta Phi Lambda through Whitney "Airyn" Newton, my biggie, and went through the recruitment requirement. I crossed Fall 2011 and I am proud to be one of the sister of DPhiL. I'm so glad that I came out and join because I have made so many friends and get to know all my sisters. Also I get a chance to meet other sisters and syands from other chapters. I'm a shy person and by going to conferences and meeting definitly teach me about how to be a good leader, good speaker, and good volunteer. It is a big responsibility and big committment! "
I feel all the 7 virtues are important to me because without them I don't think I am who I am today! Delta Fly till the day I die!

" Upon joining DPhiL, I entered without understanding what a sorority was. Never did I think coming to ISU I would meet the most diligent, respectable, and cunning women who would then become a leader of my own. However, I am not perfect. None of us are. But, the way we push each other, motivate, support, and help each other meet our goals is what makes us a perfect as a family. We are much more than just letters and colors. What my sisters have taught me is to persevere, to be unafraid of challenges, to constantly learn from my mistakes—that accomplishment is a steady grind to success. The virtue that means the most to me is honesty. One would not lie to someone they love and respect. Being honest with my sisters deepens my relationship with them because I can tell them anything without fear of being judged and vice versa. To say I understand everything about being a leader or sister from being in the sorority would be false. But, I am a better leader and sister because of it. "
" D Phi L changed my life because it provided for me a sense of belonging and connection to like-minded people. It is so great to have a group of people to share your passions with. I also like it because it provided for me structure and organization skills that contribute to my daily life, my school work, and my future career.
The virtue that means the most to be is academic excellence because it is what brought my sisters and I together. We all came to this school to get an education. We did not know that we would be given a chance to meet such great people, people that we now consider family. It is such an honor to see each other learn, grow, and be successful. "

" DPhiL has change my life because it has allowed me the opportunity to step out of my shell and take on leadership position. I was given the opportunity to hold different position and gain knowledge in working as a team with others. I also feel like Respect is the most important virtue to me. Respect is something that is very important because I feel it is important to not only respect everyone and be respectful to everyones differences. But it is important to respect oneself. "
" Before I joined DPhiL, I was only mildly active on campus and being a townie, I had trouble meeting people. Joining DPhiL has given me the chance to break out of my shell, pursue leadership activities, and build a resume I can be proud of. I now have a group of women I can depend on no matter the circumstances. I'm more willing to step up and talk to people. I've also taken on a supervisor position at work and have been president of Delta Phi Lambda. I can't image my life without it.To me, integrity is the most important value. It means being honest in what you do and living up to your values. Without integrity, I wouldn't be able to say I live by the other six virtues to their fullest. "
